Nine time X Games gold medalist and BMX veteran Jamie Bestwick was searched and interrogated at LAX on Wednesday morning when TSA authorities discovered a suspicious amount of gold on him. Bestwick was en route to X Games 18 when authorities confiscated his personal belongings and held him in a TSA facility. They are holding him indefinitely while they investigate how one man could possibly be in possession of so much gold.

In occasione della Fashion Week di Milano, questo Sabato 23 Giugno Panic Room e FRIP presentano ‘GETO BLASTERS’, mostra di stereoradio portatili anni ’80 e ’90 a cura di Luciano Serpi aka FACE.

La passione di FACE per gli streroradio portatili nasce dal background old school negli anni ’80 fatto di contaminazioni tra skateboarding & Areosolart. Attratto dalla musica e dal design, inzia a collezionare pezzi da diverse parti del mondo, dal Giappone agli Stati Uniti passando per l’Europa.

E mentre la ricerca di FACE continua, la sua collezione sarà per la prima volta in mostra questo weekend da FRIP a Milano, con un dj set curato da Luciano Serpi & Dj Em, birre e amici. Inoltre, è stato realizzato un mixtape ad hoc per l’occasione – “punto di incontro tra la musica hip hop anni 80 e i remix di brani classici e attuali per una visione globale tra old school and new school” – che vi presentiamo qui sotto in ateprima. Il workshop consisterà in un esercizio pratico di tecnica dell’animazione 2D e/o 3D, che sarà svolto durante un lavoro di gruppo come in una produzione di serie TV o film. Non saranno previsti insegnamenti tecnici sui software utilizzati, ma solamente sulle procedure di lavoro. Lo scopo è di affinare la conoscenza con esercizi pratici dell’animazione (studio di filmati, piccoli esercizi di
recitazione, mimo) e condividere con il workshop leader e gli altri partecipanti il lavoro fatto durante le ore di workshop e durante la settimana.

Al partecipante verrà chiesto di scegliere di realizzare una scena animata, partendo dall’audio di una scena d’azione o di interpretazione.

Steve Jobs may be best remembered for creating devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod, but apparently, the founder of Apple was also an actor. A long-lost Macintosh commercial featuring Steve Jobs as Franklin Delano Roosevelt has just resurfaced.

The Huffington Post reports that Apple ran a commercial during the 1984 Super Bowl.

The ad, which was directed by sci-fi legend Ridley Scott, was such a success that Apple produced a $50,000 9-minute sequel. The nine minute ad spoofs George Orwell’s “1984″ and features Steve Jobs as FDR.

Jobs says:

“General, you and your brave fighting force have a rendezvous with destiny. Your battle will be long. It will be hard, but it will be won. I’m sure your victory will be great. Insanely great.”

Paul McNamara from Network World obtained the long-lost ad and yesterday a copy of the commercial was posted on Youtube. McNamara said that the 9-minute ad was originally shown to “rally the sales team” and hasn’t seen by many people outside of the Apple family.

The IB Times reports that several of the roles are filled by professional actors but Jobs, and other Apple employees like Apple vice president of marketing Mike Murray, appear in the film.

So an “artist” by the name of Iani Papadopol recently held an exhibition in Romania called “UpDate 3D Loading”. It was a local hit because the “paintings” he showed off were, for a guy nobody had ever heard of, amazing.

Turns out there was a reason for that. He’d stolen them.

The images turned out to be video game concept art from some of the biggest and best names in the field, including Daniel Dociu, Craig Mullins, Mathias Verhasselt and Sparth (click those links to be taken to galleries featuring their awesome work).

Papadopol simply took some of their existing images, as well as those from other artists, printed them off on canvas and held the exhibition. Worse, the exhibition was held with the intent of selling the pieces.

It’s a double-whammy of a crime; not only is he stealing work from respected artists, but much of that work is also the property of major publishers, making it even more serious than a mere act of artistic plagiarism.

He was quickly caught by alert online fans, not to mention some of the artists themselves – who were understandably a little surprised/concerned – but not before local art critics could hail “his” work as “giving shape to three-dimensional art”.

To those local critics, you should really check out more video game concept art. There’s a reason he stole it. It’s often incredible.
